Rodney’s musical journey began at the tender age of 6 when he picked up the guitar. His impressive career includes recording two acclaimed albums, “The Undiscovered Few” and “Soul Manifesto,” for the prestigious Blue Note label. Renowned for his exceptional talent, Rodney has graced stages worldwide, collaborating with a stellar lineup of music legends such as Dizzy Gillespie, James Brown, Lena Horne, Quincy Jones, Christian McBride, Stevie Wonder, Elvin Jones, Kenny Burrell, Stan Getz, and many others. His musical versatility led him to serve as the house guitarist at the iconic Apollo Theatre for 9 years and as the staff guitarist for the Rosie O’Donnell Show for 6 years. Rodney’s creative prowess extends beyond performing, as he has composed commercials and boasts over 125 recorded compositions. Recently, he scored a documentary film for PBS highlighting African American GIs in WW2. Rodney’s expertise as a Musical Director and Producer has been sought after by legendary artists like Lena Horne, Ruth Brown, Gloria Lynne, and Ernestine Anderson. Additionally, he has shared his knowledge as a professor of Jazz Guitar Studies at The Juilliard School for 12 years and The Manhattan School of Music for over 20 years, conducting clinics and workshops globally.
